Second-seeded Omaha forces winner-take-all game at #SummitSB Championship

VERMILLION, S.D. – Junior all-league first-team pitcher Kamryn Meyer delivered in the clutch and forced a winner-take-all game at the 2022 #SummitSB Championship. The Mavericks plated three runs in the fifth in Saturday's first game at Nygaard Field.

Meyer allowed just two hits as she backed up her shutout performance from a night early to record her 12th of the season. The Jackrabbits' two-four hitters all recorded a hit with Lynsey Tucker and Jamie White each recording an RBI.

The fifth inning was all Omaha needed to advance to the winner-take-all game, as Olivia Aden recorded a base hit up the middle to lead off the frame. Up next, Sierra Leoneti advanced Aden to second on a fielder’s choice and throwing error. After a force out at third and two outs, Tucker brought home Leonetti with an RBI single to right field. The Mavericks’ base running came through after scoring on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 the next batter. White registered her fifth RBI of the tournament with a shot to right field and made it a 3-0 contest.

South Dakota State battled in the top of seventh that saw two runners reach base via a leadoff walk and a single up the middle, but Meyer would prevail and complete the gem.
