#SummitVB Weekly Notebook: No. 9

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – What an entertaining week of Summit League volleyball as two teams recorded reverse sweep and another team is riding an eight-match winning streak. St. Thomas picked up a home reverse sweep against North Dakota State for its first league win of the season, while South Dakota notched a reverse sweep of their own against in-state foe South Dakota State.
 
Omaha took sole possession of first place in the league standings and have notched eight straight wins. The Mavericks will head to Vermillion to face the defending regular season and tournament champion Coyotes in what should be a highly competitive match.
 
After losing their first league match of the season last week, Kansas City are winners of three straight matches. Meanwhile, Denver, who sits third overall in the standings, will begin a road trip where they will face North Dakota and North Dakota State.

On the defensive side of the ball, Leah Green recorded a career-high 22 digs for a three-set match against the Fighting Hawks ... Additionally, she flawlessly received 25 serves, achieving a perfect 1.000 reception percentage against UND ... Green tacked on 10 more digs against the Coyotes, while Sydney Henry notched 31 assists against the Tommies ... Henry sits first in league play with 335 assists and second overall with 10.15 assists per set.

The Fighting Hawks closed out its three match road trip and will look to bounce back with a pair of home matches this week ... Marissa Stockman hit over .500 in both matches last week where she tallied 12 kills with no errors ... Izzie McCormick collected 27 digs over two matches (3.86 digs per set) and totaled 14 digs against Kansas City, 13 against Omaha and five against North Dakota State ... Stockman’s hitting percentage of .431 tops the league charts, while McCormick’s 0.52 service aces per set ranks third overall.

Olivia Tukuafu now has aces in six straight matches after leading Omaha with four in a four-set victory over Oral Roberts ... Erica Fava’s three services aces against the Golden Eagles gives her 26 on the season and sole possession of third place in the league ... Omaha will look to extend its winning streak when they face South Dakota and St. Thomas this week.
