SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State's Carley Goetschius and Omaha's Kamryn Meyer collected the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Softball Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively, league officials announced on Monday.
Goetschius went 8-for-11 at the plate (.727) in the League-opening series sweep of Kansas City. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native had a Bison season high five RBI in game one of the series, including a three-run home run and a double. In game two, Goetschius added three more RBI with a solo home run and singled twice in the series finale with one walk.
She finished the weekend with a .750 on-base percentage with three extra base hits and a 1.364 slugging percentage. She finished with eight RBI, scored six runs and accounted for nearly half of the 25 runs, playing a part in 12 total runs over three games.
Meyer registered two wins last week, bringing her win total of the season to seven. The Wilton, Iowa native pitched a mid-week game against Creighton, picking up her seventh complete game of the campaign and allowed just one run on nine strikeouts.
Against St. Thomas, Meyer notched her seventh win of the season in another complete-game fashion, her seventh of the season, where she allowed one run on four hits with a season tying-high 15 strikeouts. Meyer struck out the first Tommie batter she faced to register her 600
th career strikeout and now has 614 career strikeouts, which ranks second on the all-time Omaha list.
