BROOKINGS, S.D. – For the first time in program history, Omaha captured the #SummitSB Championship by defeating South Dakota State 1-0 on Sunday at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium.
Summit League All-League first team pitcher Kamryn Meyer was staked to an early lead and did the rest, striking out 11 Jackrabbits and giving up just one hit in the game in the seventh inning as she won the 17
th game of her senior season.
Omaha posted the game's only run in the bottom of the first inning with a bases loaded walk by Emma Durr and played was halted Saturday evening due to rain in the forecast.
The contest resumed today, and Meyer was electric all game long. The Wilton, Iowa native had her no-hitter broken up in the top of the seventh inning on a Lindsey Culver base hit up the middle. After Meyer walked Emma Osmundson with one out and runners on first and second, the senior hurler retired the next two batters on a flyout and popup to clinch the tournament title.
