South Dakota garners #SummitSD peak performer of the week awards

South Dakota Coyotes sweep latest swimming and diving weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota Coyotes garnered the latest Summit League Swimming and Diving Peak Performer honors after a handful of league-leading performances at the Tommie Invitational.
 
This week’s awards are the fourth career award for Emily Kahn, second for Nick Rounds and Charlie Matthews and first for Mady Schmidt.

MEN’S PEAK SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Nick Rounds, South Dakota
Fr | Free/Back | West Des Moines, Iowa
  • Collected his second career weekly award of the season
  • Earned five first-place finishes, two runner-up finishes, and a fourth place finish
  • Ranks in the Coyote top 10 all-time charts in five individual events
  • Won the 50 free with a league-leading time of 20.27
  • Finished second in the 100 IM with the second-best time in the league (50.50)
  • Individually, also competed in the 100 back (2nd – 48.88) and the 100 fly (4th – 48.90)
  • Swam legs in the 200 free relay (1st – 1:21.67), 400 free relay (1st – 2:58.94), 200 medley relay (1st – 1:27.23), and 400 medley relay (1st – 3:14.04)

MEN’S PEAK DIVER OF THE WEEK
Charlie Matthews, South Dakota
So | Dive | Overland Park, Kansas
  • Earned his second career weekly honor, first of the season
  • Posted personal-best scores on both diving events
  • Had the top score of prelims in the 1-meter dive with 261.70
  • Won the 1-meter with a score of 265.15
  • In the 3-meter scored 266.20 in prelims and took second with a finals score of 255.25
WOMEN’S PEAK SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Emily Kahn, South Dakota
Sr | Free/Fly | Denver, Colo.
  • Captured her fourth career weekly accolade, first of the season
  • Contributed five first-place efforts at the invitational
  • Posted top times among the league in the 50 free (22.94), 100 fly (55.10) and 100 free (50.06)
  • Top times in the league in her three individual events also won her each of the events
  • Swam legs of the 200 free relay (1st – 1:32.66), 400 medley relay (1st – 3:48.40), and 400 free relay (1st – 3:24.52)

  • Earned her first career weekly award
  • Posted personal-best scores in both diving events
  • Won the 1-meter with a score of 240.80
  • Finished runner-up in the 3-meter with a score of 248.90
