SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Kansas City, North Dakota, and South Dakota were represented in the season’s first Summit League Indoor Track and Field Peak Performers of the week, League officials released Tuesday. Stephen Clunis and Landon Olson took home the honors on the men’s side while Jadyn Keeler and Kenna Curry secured them on the women’s side.
Clunis secured first place in the 60-meter dash by taking the tape in 6.66 seconds at the Bob Timmons challenge. His time ranks third in the NCAA this season. He also set the Kansas City school record by .01 seconds and improved his previous personal best by .16 seconds to earn the weekly male track honors.
Olson opened the indoor season by winning the high jump competition with a clearance of 7-0.5” (2.15m). His first-place mark ties him for second in the NCAA this season. The leap was also a personal best by 1.5 inches as he earned the weekly male field honors.
Keeler opened her junior campaign by shattering the North Dakota record in the 5000m with a time of 15:57.19. Her time was a 10-second improvement from previous record holder Yonca Kutluk’s time of 16:07.70 set last season. This was an improvement of more than 50 seconds from her previous personal record of 16:48.97 as she secured the weekly female track honors.
Curry got her season underway with a weight throw of 70-6.5” (21.50m) to win the event at the SDSU Holiday Open. Her toss ranks second in the nation and the senior contributed an additional first-place finish in the shot-put with a mark of 48-11.75 (14.93m), which is a top-20 mark in Division I.
