Pioneers claim 10th straight #SummitWTEN championship crown

Denver garners its 10th consecutive championship title after 4-0 win over South Dakota

DES MOINES, Iowa –
The Denver Pioneers extended their league record championship titles to ten straight with a 4-0 win over No. 2 South Dakota Saturday afternoon at Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
 
The Pioneers came out swinging and took an early 1-0 lead capturing the doubles point. Britt Pursell and Andrea Burguete Beltran took the first match after defeating Bea Havlickova and Paige Alter, 6-2, at the top court. Denver clinched the doubles point after Louise Wikander and Caroline Driscoll beat Anna Medvyedyeva, 6-4, at the No. 2 spot.
 
Denver continued to bring the energy into singles action with Beltran pushing the Pios’ lead to 2-0 after she defeated Havlickova 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot. Driscoll pushing the Pios’ lead to 3-0 after she defeated Medvyedyeva 6-2, 6-2 on the No. 3 court before Alice Otis clinched the match by defeating Amanda de Oliveira 6-4, 6-1 at the fifth spot for the Pioneers’ their 10th straight championship trophy.
