SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After earning a series win over League-leading South Dakota State, Omaha swept the final TicketSmarter Summit League Softball Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week honors, league officials announced Monday. Second baseman Lynsey Tucker earned the first weekly nod of her career, while righthander Kamryn Meyer registered her third straight pitching honor and 14
th of her career.
Lynsey batted .750 in the series win over the Jackrabbits, registering two hits and two RBI in each of the three contests. She pushed her overall hitting streak to six straight and now has multiple hits in five straight games entering the postseason.
In the opener, her fourth-inning single plated the only two runs of the game, leading Omaha to a 2-0 victory. In a 6-4 loss in game two, Tucker put the Mavericks briefly ahead with a two-run single in the fourth.
The Lincoln, Neb., native added two more hits, including her fifth home run of the season in the finale as the Mavericks closed the regular season with a 7-4 victory.
Meyer continued her dominance in the series-opener with SDSU, limiting the Jackrabbits to a pair of hits as she recorder her 22
nd win and seventh shutout of the season in the 2-0 triumph. She fanned six and did not allow a hit until the fourth inning.
Meyer would record the last out of the series finale via strikeout to record her fourth save of the season. The Wilton, Iowa native lowered her ERA to 1.71 with 7.1 innings of scoreless work and the Summit League’s all-time strikeout leader will enter the 2024 postseason with 196 punchouts on the season.
