Omaha’s Astwood, ORU’s Mora snag #SummitMSOC weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha defender Naz Astwood and Oral Roberts forward Omar Mora claimed the latest Summit League Men's Soccer Peak Performer of the Week awards, league officials announced Tuesday. Astwood claimed the defensive accolade, while Mora collected the offensive honor, earning weekly honors for the first time in their respective careers.

Astwood and the Mavericks are off to the program's first 4-0-0 start since 2017 thanks to a pair of 1-0 shutout-wins over San Francisco and Loyola Chicago last week.

Astwood played all 90 minutes in helping preserve home shutouts over the Dons and Ramblers. The Warwick, Bermuda native also supplied the game-winning goal against Loyola Chicago in a match where his unit surrendered only three shots on goal.

Mora accounted for all three of ORU's goals in a 1-0 win over Cal Poly and a 2-1 win over UC Santa Barbara. Against the Mustangs, Mora's 40th-minute penalty kick provide the decisive goal.

In the victory over the 24th-ranked Gauchos, Mora squared things up at 1-1 with a goal in the 69th minute, then provided the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.

Mora leads all Summit League players and is tied for fourth nationally with five goals through the opening two weeks of the season.
