Pioneers, Jackrabbits take home #SummitSD weekly accolades

Denver, South Dakota State claim this week’s peak performer weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver and South Dakota State garnered this week’s Summit League Swimming and Diving weekly accolades League officials unveiled Tuesday.
 
The latest weekly awards gave Denver diver, Zyad Morsy, a league-record 13 career weekly honors while fellow DU diver Kaitlin Calvery claimed her fourth. Pioneer swimmer Frank Tirone tabbed his first career peak performer honor while South Dakota State’s Gigi Hioki garnered her second.

MEN’S PEAK SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Frank Tirone, Denver
Sr | Sprint Free | Oak Park, Ill.
  • Collected his first career weekly award of the season
  • Helped the Pioneers secure a 181-117 dual win over Wyoming
  • Won the men’s 50 free with a time of 20.74
  • Captured the 100 free with a time of 46.18
  • Swam a leg of the 400 free relay team that won the event with a time of 3:03.45
  • Was a member of the 200 medley relay the took second in a time of 1:31.76

MEN’S PEAK DIVER OF THE WEEK
Zyad Morsy, Denver
Jr | Dive | Louisville, Ky.
  • Captured a league-record 13th career weekly honor, sixth of the season
  • Won the men’s 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zone Cut score of 368.33
  • Took second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 309.45

WOMEN’S PEAK SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Gigi Hioki, South Dakota State
So | Free | Honolulu, Hawaii
  • Collected her second career weekly accolade, second of the season
  • Won a pair of individual titles and a relay event crown in a dual against Augustana
  • Captured the 200 free event with a time of 1:53.03
  • Took first in the 500 free after touching the wall in 5:10.44
  • Swam a leg of the 400 free relay that took the event with a time of 3:31.75

WOMEN’S PEAK DIVER OF THE WEEK
Kaitlin Calvery, Denver

  • Earned her fourth career weekly award and third of the season
  • Finished second in the women’s 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zone Cut score of 280.80
  • Captured second overall in the 3-meter with an NCAA Zone Cut score of 305.78
