SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Denver swimming duo of Hamish McLellan and Julia Saxman secured the latest Summit League Kwik Star Swimming and Diving Peak Performer of the Week awards, League officials released Tuesday. McLellan and Saxman garnered the men’s and women’s swimmer awards, respectively. Both student-athletes earned their second award of the season.
McLellan and Saxman guided the men’s and women’s teams to fourth-place finishes for the Pioneers at the highly competitive Minnesota Invite.
For the men, McLellan turned in his best finish in the 100 fly, placing sixth in a 28-swimmer field with a time of 46.97. His prelim swim of 46.92 broke Denver’s school record and ranks as the fastest mark in the conference this season.
Saxman shined in the women’s 100 fly, clocking 53.69 to finish 10th out of 26 swimmers which marked the fastest time in the Summit League this season and the seventh-best in program history. The Germantown, Wis., native also made an impact in the relays, helping the Pioneers place fifth in the 200 medley and seventh in the 200 free.
