#SUMMITWBB Weekly Notebook: WNIT Great 8 Edition

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League women’s basketball still has teams dancing! The North Dakota State Bison have advanced to the Great 8 of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament for the first time in program history.
 
The Bison hosted Washington State in the Super 16 of the WNIT and advanced to the Great 8 after a 59-51 victory. NDSU now owns a 3-2 record all-time in the WNIT.
 
North Dakota State will host Troy in the Great 8 tonight, with a tip time set for 7 p.m. CT.

For the first time in program history, the North Dakota State Bison advanced to the Great 8 round of the WNIT after knocking off Washington State with a 59-51 home win in the Super 16 round ... With a 17-3 run in the fourth quarter, NDSU pulled off the victory over Washington State to continue its run in the WNIT ... Avery Koenen led the charge for the Bison, dropping a game-high 19 points on 8-for-17 shooting from the field ... She also pulled down eight rounds and two steals in the win ... Marisa Frost came off the bench for NDSU and chipped in 12 of her own points to go along with five rebounds and three assists ... Abbie Draper rounded out the double-digit scoring trio finishing with 10 points and four rebounds ... North Dakota State will once again be at home inside the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex for the Great 8 round ... They will host Troy Monday with a tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.

The Golden Eagles had four achieve double-figure scoring efforts in the loss led by Jalei Oglesby ... Oglesby came off the bench and scored 18 points on 7-for-13 shooting to go along with eight rebounds ... Makyra Tramble followed Oglesby, contributing 14 points of her own and pulling down seven rebounds ... Taleyah Jones and Emily Robinson founded out the double-digit scorers for ORU ... Jones finished with 12 points and three rebounds while Robinson recorded 10 points ... Ruthie Udoumoh was just shy of a double-double finishing with nine points and eight rebounds.

No. 10 South Dakota State came out victorious in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history with a 75-68 defeat of No. 7 Oklahoma State ... With the win over OSU, the Jackrabbits improved to 30-3 on the season, marking the third time in program history that the Jacks have won 30 games ... After trailing 31-24 at the break, SDSU came out firing, outscoring OSU 50-37 while shooting 56 percent in the second half ... South Dakota State had four Jacks finish with double digits led by Brooklyn Meyer’s 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists ... Madison Mathiowetz followed with 17 points, all of which came in SDSU’s second half surge ... She was 6-for-7 from the floor and finished with four rebounds and a pair of assists ... Paige Meyer and Haleigh Timmer rounded out the double figure scorers, finishing with 16 and 11 points apiece ... Defensively, Mesa Byom tied the Summit League record for most rebounds in a single game of the NCAA Tournament ...
