DENVER – Top-seeded Denver claimed its 11th consecutive Summit League Women’s Tennis Championship, shutting out No. 3 Omaha 4-0 on Saturday at Denver Tennis Park.
Denver wasted no time setting the tone, capturing the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 positions.
Claudia Martinez de Velasco and Louise Wikander powered past Keegan VanPelt and Summer Shannon 6-1 at No. 2, while Andrea Burguete Beltran and Marley Lambert clinched the point at No. 1, defeating Zoe Adkins and Paula Arcarons 6-1 to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Burguete Beltran put Denver ahead 2-0 with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 victory over Adkins at No. 1.
Wikander added another point, securing a 6-1, 6-4 win against Khayli Buckels at No. 2.
Hana Becirovic Novak then sealed the championship for Denver at No. 5, battling past Katelynn Kock 6-3, 6-4 to complete the shutout.
With the win, Denver not only continued its historic streak of league titles but also earned the Summit League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
