Four Denver Women’s Tennis Players Land ITA Regional Rankings

DENVER – The University of Denver women's tennis team placed four players in the 2025 ITA Mountain Regional rankings, which were released on Wednesday.

The doubles team of senior Andrea Burguete Beltran and junior Marley Lambert captured the No. 1 doubles ranking in the region while juniors Claudia Martinez de Velasco and Louise Wikander joined them with a No. 8 doubles ranking.

Burguete Beltran/Lambert ranked as high as No. 29 nationally in doubles this season and ended the year ranked No. 86 in the country. The duo appeared in the ITA Mountain Regional Championships doubles final and finished the fall with a quarterfinals appearance at the ITA Conference Masters Championships. They went 21-9 together on the season including 13-7 in the spring dual season, all at the No. 1 slot.

They are the second Denver doubles team to achieve a No. 1 regional doubles ranking, joining Pursell/Verden Anderson in 2022.

Martinez de Velasco/Wikander also earned a national doubles ranking this season, coming in at No. 110 at the end of the fall. They finished the year with an outstanding 21-3 record including 16-2 in spring duals and a perfect 5-0 in Summit League play.

Burguete Beltran has now earned a regional doubles ranking in two consecutive seasons after doing so with then-partner Britt Pursell in 2023-24. Wikander, too, made it into the mountain regional doubles rankings last year, doing so at No. 9 with Caroline Driscoll. This is the first time that Lambert and Martinez de Velasco achieved regional doubles rankings in their careers.

This marks the second consecutive season that two Denver doubles teams appeared in the ITA Mountain Regional rankings.

In singles, Burguete Beltran came in at No. 7, and Wikander sat at No. 15. Burguete Beltran.

Burguete Beltran became the fourth Denver women's singles player to win a match at the NCAA National Championships with her straight-sets victory in the opening round. She finished with a 25-10 record on the year and spent the entire season at the No. 1 spot for Denver.

Wikander moved up to the No. 2 singles slot for DU in 2024-25 and ended with an 18-11 overall record including 8-3 in the fall and a perfect 6-0 in Summit League matches.

This is the third year in a row that Burguete Beltran has appeared in the regional singles rankings, starting at No. 10 in 2023 and then moving up to No. 2 in 2024. Wikander also earned a spot in last year's regional singles rankings, coming in at No. 16.
