Ten student-athletes earn spot on 2025 #SummitSB Academic All-League Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Ten student-athletes have been selected to the 2025 Summit League Softball Academic All-League team as voted on by a panel of Faculty Athletic Representatives and Sports Information Directors from the League’s member institutions. The honorees are chosen based on their performance in the classroom and on the field during the season.

South Dakota led all teams with three honorees, while North Dakota, South Dakota State and St. Thomas all saw two make the list. Omaha’s Maggie O’Brien rounded out the team.

O’Brien, the 2025 Softball Scholar of the Championship presented by JLG Architects, earned a spot on the academic all-league team for the third time in her respective career.

The Jackrabbits’ Brooke Dumont claimed her second career accolade while teammate Akayla Barnard, USD’s Abi Brown, Autumn Iversen and Tatum Villotta, UND’s Taya Hopfauf and Camryn Lasota and UST’s Jenna Kuhn and Kameron Monson all earned their first career honor.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions, except pitchers who must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s total contests.

Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league's seven institutions that carry softball, and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and facility athletic representatives (FARs). The team is made up of the 10 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
