SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Delaware forward Marius Stenner and goalkeeper JoJo Elliot Jr. swept the initial Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Soccer Peak Performer of the Week accolades, league officials announced Tuesday. Stenner captured the offensive honor, while Elliot earned the defensive nod.
Stenner and Elliot helped the Blue Hens to back-to-back shutouts during the opening week of the men’s college soccer season. Delaware blanked LeMoyne, 2-0, and Temple, 4-0, to post a pair of victories as the program made its debut as a Summit League member.
Stenner combined for three goals in those triumphs, scoring the opener in each victory as he corralled six points and two-game winning goals. The Svendborg, Denmark native led all Division I freshmen with five game-winning goals a season ago.
Elliot posted a pair of clean sheets in his first two collegiate starts, stopping two shots against LeMoyne before making five saves in the victory over Temple.
The Blue Hens combined for two shutouts all of the last season as they finished 7-7-2 and 2-6 in Coastal Athletic Association play.
