SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- It was an impressive opening week of the men's college soccer season as Summit League squads provided several results over ranked foes, a handful of shutouts, jaw-dropping goals and mind-blowing saves as they combined to go 6-4-4 against a tough slate of competition. The early results already has the Summit League sitting third in the conference RPI rankings behind the ACC and WAC.
(19/15) Kansas City posted two of those key results, earning a hard-fought 2-2 draw at SMU before rallying for a 2-1 victory over Missouri State in its home opener. The Roos, who are coming off a third-round appearance in the 2024 NCAA Tournament that included an identical 2-1 win over the Bears in the secound round, carried over the momentum from the program's most memorable season to date to get the 2025 campaign underway.
Newcomer Delaware was the lone squad among the seven to register a pair of wins as sophomroe Marius Stenner tallied game-winning goals in victories over LeMoyne and Temple. He was one of seven Division I players to achieve that feat during the opening week.
Week two will provide many more opportunities for the League to create noise on the national stage.
