Delaware sweeps Kwik Star #SummitMSOC weekly awards for the third time

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second straight week and third time in four tries this season, an unblemished Delaware program swept the Kwik Star Summit League Men’s Soccer Peak Performer of the Week accolades, league officials announced Tuesday. Goalkeeper JoJo Elliott, Jr., earned his third defensive nod, while fellow freshman Freddy Jeffreys garnered his first career offensive honor for the Blue Hens, who are one of just three Division I squads remaining without a loss or draw this season.

Delaware improved to 6-0-0 with back-to-back shutouts, posting a 1-0 victory over Penn and 5-0 blanking of Howard as Jeffreys delivered the game-winning goal in both victories.

Against the (RV/NR) Quakers, the Leeds, England native scored off a free kick in the 25th minute to register his first collegiate goal, while Elliott turned all five of Penn’s shots on goal, including three in the first half.

In the win over the Bison, Jeffreys scored the lone tally of the first half in the 19th minute before the Blue Hens put the game away with four second-half tallies.

Elliott stopped Howard’s lone shot on goal in the first half, then added four more second-half saves to preserve his fifth shutout of the season. The Hockessin, Del., native is tied for second among DI goalkeepers with five shutouts on the season and his 0.167 goals against average is tied for fifth nationally.
