UST’s Rudzitis, USD’s Farris garner season-opening Kwik Star #SummitVB weekly accolades

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Thomas right side Tezra Rudzitis and South Dakota defensive specialist/ libero Kamryn Farris are the first Summit League Kwik Star Volleyball Peak Performers of the Week this season, league officials announced Tuesday. Rudzitis claimed her first career offensive honor, while Farris nabbed her fourth defensive award.
 
Rudzitis was named to the Golden Gopher All-Tournament Team after totaling 43 total kills and a 3.58 kills per set average during the Tommies’ opening weekend of play. The Anoka, Minn., native began her senior season hitting .305 over three matches and equaled her career high with 18 kills against No. 11 Minnesota. 
 
The UST senior tallied 14 kills and a .216 hitting percentage in a five-set match with Ball State. She then produced 11 kills and a .550 attack percentage against Cal Poly.
 
Farris totaled 56 digs in the Coyotes’ opening weekend of play at the EVEN Hotel Bobcat Invite. The Lansing, Kan., native had seven assists and 12 digs in the season-opener against (RV) Oregon.

The USD senior then earned 25 digs along with 13 assists and six service aces in a thrilling five-set match against host Montana State. She then produced 19 digs, five assists, and two service aces in a win against Prairie View to round out tournament play.
