SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha’s Brooke Robbins and the South Dakota trio of Nick Rounds, Charlie Matthews, and Gabbie Ahrendt were named the latest Summit League Kwik Star Swimming and Diving Peak Performers of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday. Rounds and Matthews garnered the men’s swimmer and diver awards, respectively, while Ahrendt and Robbins earned the women’s swimmer and diver honors, respectively.
Rounds delivered a stellar weekend for the Yotes, placing first in seven events. The sophomore claimed victories in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 medley relay in the Omaha dual, then followed up with first-place finishes in the 50 free, 100 fly, 200 medley relay, and 200 free relay against South Dakota State. Teammate Matthews added a pair of first-place finishes, winning the 1-meter dive against Omaha with a score of 306.68 (personal best, NCAA Zone qualifying mark) and taking first in the 3-meter dive vs. SDSU.
On the women’s side, Ahrendt paced USD with a first-place finish in the 100 fly (57.53) against Omaha, then followed with wins in the 100 fly, 100 free, and 200 medley relay vs. South Dakota State. Omaha’s Robbins posted a winning score of 255.30 in the 3-meter dive against USD and added a runner-up finish in the 1-meter with a score of 243.10.
