SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha infielder Bailey Sample and pitcher Maddia Groff were named the season’s second Kwik Star Summit League Softball Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week, League officials announced Tuesday.
Sample and Groff led the Mavericks to a 5-0 weekend and a 9-0 start to the 2026 season.
Sample was dominant from the plate, recording nine hits over Omaha’s five wins, including three multi-hit performances.
The Benicia, Calif., native drove in five RBIs and recorded a home run in the win over Fairleigh Dickinson, capping a dominant week for the Mavericks.
Groff was stellar for Omaha in her third and fourth starts of the season, striking out 17 batters across 11.2 innings pitched over the weekend.
The Omaha, Neb., native allowed just one run while facing 43 batters and closed the weekend with a season-high 12 strikeouts in the shutout win over Boise State.
