OMA’s Schmidt, NDSU’s McClary selected for latest Kwik Star #SummitSB weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha outfielder Sammy Schmidt and North Dakota State pitcher Jocelyn McClary were tabbed this week’s Kwik Star Summit League Softball Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week, League officials announced Tuesday.

Schmidt led the Omaha offense over the weekend, recording six hits across four games while helping the Mavericks to a 3-1 record. The junior drove in nine runs during the stretch, including a four-RBI performance in a 9-0 win at BYU and another four-RBI outing in a 12-2 victory at Utah Tech.

The Hastings, Neb., native also posted a pair of multi-hit games during the week, collecting two hits against BYU and adding another two-hit effort in the win over Utah Tech. Her timely hitting helped power Omaha’s offense in both series victories.

McClary turned in another strong week in the circle, posting a 2-0 record across three appearances. The junior logged 12.1 innings of work, allowing just two runs while striking out six batters and holding opponents to a .227 batting average.

The freshman highlighted the week with a complete-game shutout against top-100 RPI Cal Baptist on Friday, keeping the Lancers off the board while guiding her team to the victory. McClary’s efficient outings throughout the week helped anchor the pitching staff and secure multiple wins.
