SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State catcher Jessica Delatorre and pitcher Jocelyn McClary were crowned as the latest Kwik Star Summit League Softball Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week, League officials announced Tuesday.
Delatorre led the way at the plate for North Dakota State, helping the Bison complete a series sweep of South Dakota. The sophomore catcher hit .364 (4-for-11) with two walks, posting a .462 on-base percentage while launching a pair of home runs.
The Pleasant Hill, Calif., native delivered a clutch game-tying homer in the series finale and finished with five RBIs and six runs scored. She posted a team-best 1.371 OPS and .909 slugging percentage, accounting for nine of NDSU’s 35 runs on the weekend. Delatorre also added a caught stealing from behind the plate.
McClary helped the Bison to a series sweep of the Coyotes over the weekend, going 2-0 in two starts with a 1.50 ERA. The Eagan, Minn., native opened the series with a complete game, allowing just one run while striking out six.
The freshman returned in the finale to allow just two earned runs, adding three more strikeouts to close the weekend. McClary finished with nine strikeouts and just 11 hits allowed across 14.0 innings of work.
After earning her third weekly award of the season, McClary now leads the league in weekly honors
