SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Thomas designated player Ella Cook and Omaha pitcher Maddia Groff were deemed the latest Kwik Star Summit League Softball Peak Performer and Pitcher of the Week, League officials announced Tuesday.
Cook, a senior, led St. Thomas at the plate with a dominant slash line of .526/.625/1.158, finishing the week with 10 hits in 19 at-bats to consistently set the tone offensively from the designated player position.
The Tommies standout scored six runs, launched four home runs, and drove in eight RBIs over the stretch. She also doubled her runs on offense compared to what she allowed in the pitcher’s circle, highlighting her all-around impact on both sides of the game.
Groff earned her second consecutive weekly award for Omaha after posting a 0.78 ERA across two starts, including a strong outing against No. 1/4 Nebraska where she allowed just one earned run through 3.0 innings of work.
The Omaha, Neb., native tallied 9.0 innings on the week, striking out 11 batters while continuing to provide steady production in the circle for the Mavericks.
