McGrath honored as Academic All-American®

South Dakota State's Braxton McGrath was honored Wednesday as a member of the 2025-26 Academic All-America® Team for men's swimming and diving as selected by the College Sports Communicators.

A senior from Amana, Iowa, McGrath earned a spot on the second team after compiling a 3.85 grade-point average while majoring in mechanical engineering. Earlier this spring, he was recognized on the CSC Academic All-District and Summit League All-Academic squads for the third time in his collegiate career.

In the pool, McGrath was an all-Summit League performer during both the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons. He lowered his own school records in the 100 butterfly (47.70 seconds) and 200 butterfly (1:47.98) at the 2026 Summit League championships, placing second in the 200 butterfly and third in the 100 fly. He also was a member of the school-record and third-place 400 medley relay at the 2026 Summit League Championships.

McGrath is the fourth Jackrabbit student-athlete to be honored on College Sports Communicators Academic All-America teams during the 2025-26 academic year, joining football players Kobe Clayborne (first team) and Max Pelham (second team), as well as women's soccer standout Lauren Eckerle (second team).
