UST’s Voiles and UD’s Widrick take home the second weekly honor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – St. Thomas forward Ednilson Voiles and Delaware goalkeeper Eric Widrick earned the second Summit League Men’s Soccer Peak Performer of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday. Voiles captured the offensive honor, while Widrick earned the defensive nod.

Voiles scored twice in a four-minute span to help the Tommies secure a 4-1 victory over Chicago State on Thursday. The Haiti native opened the scoring in the 59th minute off an assist from Jacob Nokken before adding his second goal in the 62nd minute.

The graduate student finished with four points and a game-winning goal, ranking tied for third among Summit League players in points through the first two weeks of the season. He also became the seventh Tommie in program history to record a brace.

Widrick turned in a strong performance against No. 6 Georgetown, making six saves while facing 22 shots in Delaware's 1-0 setback. The Massachusetts native made several diving stops throughout the match and kept the Blue Hens within striking distance against the nationally ranked Hoyas, holding Georgetown scoreless for more than 77 minutes.
