Omaha sweeps first tennis weekly honors of the season

Omaha’s Ouattara, Gallegos take home athlete of the week awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League tennis season is upon us and Omaha's Abdoul Ouattara and Madison Gallegos secured the first men's and women's tennis athlete of the week accolades after helping the Mavericks finish the weekend 2-0.
 
Ouattara went a perfect 4-0 in all four matches this weekend against Marquette. He posted two straight-set victories in singles action while playing No. 1 and No. 2 all weekend. He also was able to notch two doubles wins at the top spot of the lineup.
 
Gallegos helped the Mavericks defeat Eastern Illinois and Illinois State. Against Illinois State, she posted a No. 1 doubles win then notched a straight-set singles victory at the No. 1 spot.
