SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Illinois State’s Melker Isaakson and Denver’s Anna Riedmiller take home this week’s Summit League men’s and women’s tennis athletes of the week after helping guide their respective teams to their first match victories of the season.
Isaakson put up a strong effort against the UIC Flames as he and his partner teamed up at the No. 1 spot in the doubles lineup to pick up a 6-3 win and help secure the doubles point over the Flames. Later, at the No. 2 spot, he defeated Luiz Dos Santos in straight sets (7-5, 7-6), to help give Illinois State the 6-1 team victory.
Riedmiller went undefeated in Denver's 6-1 wins over Air Force and Utah State. Against Air Force, she didn’t drop a game. Riedmiller and her partner helped lock down the doubles point at the No. 2 spot and then she went on to claim her singles victory in straight sets. Versus Utah State, she earned another singles victory at the No. 2 spot defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-2.
