SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Drake men’s tennis athlete Evan Fragistas and women’s tennis athlete Britt Pursell claimed this week’s Summit League tennis athlete of the week accolades.
 
Fragistas started the week helping give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead over Utah by cruising past his opponent at the No. 4 singles spot 6-2, 6-0. Utah came back from behind with four-straight wins to ultimately defeated the Bulldogs 4-3.
 
Fragistas helped the Bulldogs bounce back and collect their league opening 5-2 victory over Illinois State. He teamed up with Freddie Powell at the No. 3 spot in doubles to earn a 7-5 win over Illinois State. Fragistas went on to defeated Diego Le Gal Perez, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot to end the week undefeated.
 
Pursell helped the Pioneers claim their third straight match with a 4-0 sweep over Utah to hand the Utes only their second loss of the season. Denver took the lead with the help of Pursell and teammate Verden-Anderson teaming up at the No. 1 spot in doubles to defeat their opponents 6-1. She then went on to help claim the sweep defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot of the singles lineup.
