SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State shortstop Bennett Hostetler repeated as the #SummitBSB Player of the Week, earning his third weekly award in the first five weeks of the season, while Omaha's Joey Machado picked up the pitching accolade, league officials announced Monday.

Hostetler led the Bison to a 4-1 record last week, including a 3-1 start in league play thanks to a series win over Western Illinois. The Bison shortstop went 9-for-19 (.474) at the plate with six extra-base hits, six runs, 11 RBI and three stolen bases.

Hostetler hit safely and had at least one RBI in all five games, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Against the Leathernecks, he hit .500 with three doubles, his first two home runs of the season and drove in 10 runs.

Hostetler's first long ball of the campaign came in extra innings in game three vs. WIU to secure the series win. His three-run shot in the eighth inning gave the Bison a 7-4 lead.

Machado turned in his best performance of the season in the Mavericks' league opener vs. SDSU. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just a leadoff double in the second inning while striking out a season-high 10 Jackrabbits.

Machado had four innings with multiple strikeouts as he only faced 23 batters in his season-high six innings of work.
