SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Drake men’s tennis athlete Oliver Johansson and Kansas City women’s tennis athlete Anastassiya Timofeyeva claimed this week’s Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors. It is the second career honor for Johansson and the first for Timofeyeva.
 
The Drake men’s tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Creighton at home to earn its second win of the season. Johansson started the match teaming up with Benedek Hermann and claimed a 6-3 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. Johansson continued that momentum in singles play securing a 6-3, 6-3 victory at the top spot of the singles lineup.
 
Timofeyeva went 4-0 in her singles and doubles matches on the weekend to help Kansas City to victories over Western Illinois (7-0) and Bradley (4-1). Against Western Illinois, Timofeyeva teamed up with Riddhi Sharma at the No. 3 spot in doubles and secured a 6-2 win to help give the Roos an early 1-0 lead. Timofeyeva capitalized on the momentum going into singles and defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.
 
Timofeyeva and Sharma teamed up again at the No. 3 spot and defeated their Bradley opponents 7-6 (7-5) to help the Roos to another early 1-0 advantage. She went on at the No. 6 spot in singles to defeated Bradley’s Nina Marjanovic 6-3, 6-4 to secure the victory.
