SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Outstanding performances at the Sioux City Relays this past weekend earned five student-athletes Summit League track and field weekly honors. South Dakota’s Hugo Morvan, Zack Anderson and South Dakota State’s Trevor Begeman claim the men’s track and field honors while USD’s Holly Geberding and Helen Falda secured the accolades for the women.
Morvan won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.45 seconds. His winning time was nearly a second faster than the runner-up.
Anderson and Begeman each earned a share of the honor on the men’s side. Anderson captured the Sioux City Relays MVP award after winning the high jump with a meet record mark of 7-00.25 (2.14m). The former meet record of 7-0 was set back in 1995.
Begeman won the shot put event with a launch of 61-09.00 (18.82m). His winning throw now sits atop of SDSU’s all-time list after cracking Mason Leiseth’s previous top mark of 58-00.25 from 2018. His previous personal best was 57-05.75.
Gerberding garnered MVP honors at the Sioux City relays after winning both the 400-meter hurdles and the long jump at the meet. She clocked a personal-best time of 1:01.95 in the hurdles and leaped 18-09.75 (5.73m) to win the long jump. She was the only athlete to capture two individual events during Friday’s competition.
Falda moved to third in the NCAA after notching a personal-best vault of 14-6 (4.42m) to claim the event. Her winning height sits atop the league so far this season and ranks third in USD history.
