SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha’s Abdoul Ouattara and Denver’s Britt Pursell helped their respective teams to crucial wins this past weekend that earned them the season’s final Summit League men’s and women’s tennis athlete of the week honors.
 
Ouattara helped Omaha to a 2-0 weekend sweep over Oral Roberts and North Dakota to finish the regular season and clinch the Mavericks a spot at the league championship. In the Maverick’s 6-1 win over the Golden Eagles, Ouattara teamed up with Matt Hulme at the No. 1 spot in doubles to help secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win. He then went on to collect a straight-set victory at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-2 over ORU’s Marcello Moreira.
 
In Omaha’s 5-2 victory over North Dakota, Omaha took an early 1-0 lead clinching the doubles point that left Ouattara and Hulme unfinished at the top spot of doubles. At the No. 2 court in singles action, Ouattara helped extend the Mavericks lead after he earned a 6-4, 6-0 win over Johnatan Parat.
 
Pursell went 2-0 against South Dakota to close the regular season and help the Pioneers claim their seventh-straight Summit League regular season title. She teamed up with Camille Verden-Anderson at the No. 1 spot in doubles to claim a 6-2 win and push the Pioneers to an early lead. At the No. 3 court in singles, she earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Natka Kmoskova to help Denver claim the 7-0 win.
