Omaha sweeps final #SummitBSB weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha swept the final #SummitBSB weekly awards of the season, league officials announced Monday as Mike Boeve picked up the player accolade and Jayden Maifeld earned the pitching accolade.

Boeve went 7-for-14 from the plate in Omaha’s three wins over Western Illinois as the Mavericks wrapped up the regular season with a series victory on the road. He had a pair of three-hit games to give him eight of those on the season as he matched a season-high in that category.

In the game-two victory, he went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and two RBI and added his third double of the weekend in the game-three triumph to give him a league-high 16 two-base hits on the season.

He also drove in seven runs in the series and had multiple-RBI in each of the three victories against the Leathernecks. Boeve also scored at least one run in each game of the series.

Maifeld tossed the first complete game of his career to pick up his first win in a Maverick uniform. After allowing a run on two hits in the first inning, the sophomore surrendered just a one-out walk in the third as he retired 18 of the next 19 Leathernecks that he faced.

For Maifeld, it marked the fourth straight time he allowed two or fewer runs in a league start as he logged the longest outing of his career.
