GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota State's women, ranked No. 10 in the Midwest Region, and South Dakota State's men, ranked No. 4 in the Midwest Region, walked away with the 2022 Summit League Cross Country Championship titles Saturday at Ray Richards Golf Course in Grand Forks, N.D.
The Bison women secured 38 total team points for their fifth Summit League crown. South Dakota State finished runner-up with 68 total team points while North Dakota totaled 100 points for third. St. Thomas (133), South Dakota (139), Kansas City (140), Omaha (157), Oral Roberts (202) and Western Illinois (213) rounded out the standings on the women's side.
The Jackrabbit men recorded a total of 18 points for their league-record seventh-consecutive championship title. North Dakota State's 64 points secured second while St. Thomas finished in third with 78 total points. North Dakota (109), South Dakota (126), Western Illinois (201), Oral Roberts (206) and Kansas City (207) completed the men's standings.
Top Performers
On the women's side, the top six finishers to cross the line all clocked under the previous championship meet record 6K time of 20:32.92. South Dakota State's Leah Hansen ran her way into her third consecutive League title and Championship MVP honor after she clocked a new championship meet record 6K time of 20:01.9. Her win today makes her the only woman in League history to win the championship meet three years in a row.
Omaha's Kamryn Ensley became the first Maverick to take home an individual honor at the championship after she secured the title of Newcomer of the Championship. Ensley was the first true freshman to cross the line clocking a personal-best time of 20:18.9 for fourth place.
For the men, all the first and second team honorees crossed the line under the previous championship meet record 8K time of 23:53.4. South Dakota State earned its second-straight individual honor as Ben Olson secured the individual title and Championship MVP honor after crossing the finish line in an 8K championship meet record time of 22:56.1.
North Dakota State went home with its second consecutive Newcomer of the Championship honor after true freshman Hunter McHenry crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 23:45.9 for 14
th place.

Notables
- South Dakota State's Hansen became the first woman in Summit League history to three-peat the women's title and take home Championship MVP honors.
- North Dakota State won its fifth title and second in the last four years.
- Hansen, Kansas City's Katherine Hanners, North Dakota's McKenzie Burian and NDSU's Grace Link and Kaleesa Houston all earned All-Summit League honors for the second-consecutive season.
