#SummitXC trio earns trip to NCAA Championships

Stillwater, Okla. – The 2025 Summit League Cross Country individual champions, North Dakota’s Jadyn Keeler and South Dakota State's Cody Larson, were the League’s top finishers in their respective races at the NCAA Cross Country Midwest Regionals ran Friday at the Greiner Family XC Course.

Larson and Oral Roberts’ Abraham Chelangam clinched two of the four individual at-large bids to the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships. Individually, 38 additional athletes per gender qualify, with the top four runners at each regional not on a qualifying team being automatically selected.

Larson finished 13th overall in the 10k race with a time of 30:37.1. The South Dakota State senior helped the Jackrabbits qualify a runner to the NCAA Championships in back-to-back seasons. Larson will be making his first trip to the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

Chelangam secured the final at-large bid after he finished the 10k course 14th overall. He crossed the finish line with a time of 30:42.1 to be the first Golden Eagle on the men’s side to make back-to-back appearances at the NCAA Championships.

Keeler punched her ticket to the NCAA Cross Country Championships in the women’s 6K after placing fourth with a time of 19:53.7. Keeler's finish was the best a Fighting Hawk has ever placed at the NCAA Midwest Regional in school history.

The Barrie, Ontario, native ran in second for most of the first 2.9K before taking the lead at the 3K mark. She maintained the lead from the 3K spot to the 4.5K mark and then was in a battle the final 1.5K of the race.

The Fighting Hawk women and South Dakota State men were the highest-finishing teams among League members at the regional meet. The UND women finished eighth overall as a squad while the SDSU men took 10th.
