SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts second baseman Mac McCroskey and North Dakota State righthander Evan Sankey collected the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, respectively, League officials announced Monday.
McCroskey collected his first career player of the week honor after he registered a .556 batting average (5-for-9) in the Golden Eagles’ two victories against Missouri State and Saint Louis. The junior infielder drove in five runs, posted a .778 slugging percentage, and tallied a .545 on-base percentage.
McCroskey’s week was highlighted with a walk-off RBI single to right in the 6-5 win against the Bears on Tuesday. In a Sunday tilt against the Billikens, the Springdale, Ark., native posted three hits with a RBI and one walk. His two muti-hit performances raised his season total to four and he has now hit safely in all five of ORU’s games this season.
Sankey earned his second straight pitching accolade after he tossed six shutout innings in a win at Dixie State. The senior hurler allowed just one walk with four strikeouts against the Trailblazers. Furthermore, the Appleton, Wis., native extended his shutout innings streak to 11 to begin the season.
