SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Northern Colorado's Shaydon Kubo and North Dakota State's Tristen Roehrich the latest TicketSmarter #SummitBSB weekly awards after standout performances last week, league officials announced Monday.
Kubo helped the Bears to a series sweep of Western Illinois in what was the program's first conference matchup as a Summit League member. The Waipahu, Hawaii native finished the series 8-for-14 (.571) with six runs, 10 RBI and four extra-base hits.
Kubo homered in the first two games of the series, going 3-for-5 with four RBI in a 12-7 victory in game one. His three-run homer in the fourth gave the Bears the lead for good in the opener. In game two, Kubo hit another three-run homer and set a career-high with five RBI in a 14-13 walk-off win.
He capped the series with a 2-for-5 effort and his RBI-groundout in the ninth squared the game at 8-8 before the Bears once against walked-off the Leathernecks.
Roehrich appeared in a pair of NDSU victories last week, tossing three innings of scoreless relief to earn the win in a 12-3 triumph over Florida Atlantic. He allowed just one hit and fanned three in that outing.
In his second appearance, he once again worked three innings, closing out an 8-2 victory over Fairfield to earn his third save of the season. The West Fargo, N.D., native allowed just one hit and struck out three. Roehrich yielded just one earned run and two hits in his six innings of combined work.
