SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Oral Roberts lefthander Ledgend Smith and North Dakota State catcher Logan Williams garnered the latest TicketSmarter #SummitBSB weekly awards, league officials announced Monday.
Smith captured his second weekly honor this month after striking out a career-high 11 Jackrabbits in six shutout innings to pick up his third win of the season. Smith yielded just three hits and a walk to help the Golden Eagles to a series sweep of South Dakota State.
Williams went 6-for-14 (.429) and homered in all three games during a series sweep of Northern Colorado as NDSU opened Summit League play. The Bison backstop produced four home runs and 11 RBI and pushed his consecutive games with a home run to seven. The NCAA Division I record is nine, which was set last season by Nevada's Tyler Bosetti.
The Kailua, Hawaii native capped the weekend sweep by belting two grand slams and going 3-for-5 at the plate in a 15-1 victory over the Bison. The three-hit game was his third of the season and he scored three runs in a game for the first time in his career.
