Drake’s Matic, Omaha’s Lorentz claim final TicketSmarter #SummitTEN weekly accolades of the season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Drake’s Matija Matic and Omaha’s Natalie Lorentz had impactful performances over the weekend securing them this season’s final TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades, league officials announced Tuesday.

Matic won both his doubles and singles matches against North Dakota to help the Bulldogs secure the No. 2 seed over the Fighting Hawks at the Summit League Tennis Championship. Matic teamed up with Evan Fragistas on the top court of doubles and defeated Nikita Snezhko and Gerhard Sullwald 7-6 (7-5) en route to the Drake doubles point.

He then went on to face Sullwald on the No. 1 court of singles play and defeated him 6-4, 6-2. Matic's two wins helped the Bulldogs to a 6-1 victory over the Fighting Hawks to close out the regular season.

Lorentz went 3-1 on the weekend, winning both her singles and doubles matches against the Leathernecks (W, 7-0) and posting a doubles win against South Dakota (L, 5-2). Against the Leathernecks, she teamed up with Keegan VanPelt on the No. 3 doubles court and defeated Paige Grice and Agatha Carbonell 6-2.
