North Dakota State, Oral Roberts, South Dakota take weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State, Oral Roberts and South Dakota student-athletes took home this week’s TicketSmarter Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week honors, league officials released Tuesday. South Dakota’s Brithton Senior and North Dakota State’s Trevor Otterdahl claimed the honors for the men while Oral Roberts’ Gabrielle Gibson and USD’s Marleen Mülla walked away with the awards for the women.

At the South Dakota Challenge, Senior won the 110-meter hurdles clocking a time of 13.62 seconds to the runner-up’s 14.8 seconds. His winning time would have matched the Lillibridge Track Complex record if it had not been for the +7.5 m/s tailwind.

Otterdahl improved his career-best in the hammer throw at the South Dakota Challenge. He launched a mark of 217-9 (66.38m) to win the event and move up to the fourth-best in NDSU history. His winning mark ranks No. 28 in the NCAA this season.

Otterdahl also won the shot put event with a throw of 61-01.50 (18.63m).

At the John Jacobs Invitational, Gibson registered four top-five finishes. Individually, she captured the event title in the 100m hurdles with a personal-best time of 13.28, which ranks 35th nationally this season. She also clocked a personal-best time of 11.75 in the 100m to finish second.

In addition to her individual events, she ran a leg in the 4x100m relay that took second in a time of 46.96 and a leg in the 4x400m relay that finished fifth (3:50.89).

Mülla cleared a personal-best height of 14-6 (4.42m) in the pole vault to finish as the top collegiate athlete at the South Dakota Challenge. Her personal best height moved her up to seventh in the NCAA this spring and improved her own Estonian national record.
