SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota’s Nikita Snezhko and Denver’s Anna Riedmiller earned this week’s TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week honors, league officials announced Tuesday.
Snezhko helped guide North Dakota to a 2-0 weekend against IUPUI (W, 4-3) and Illinois State (W, 4-3). Against IUPUI, he teamed up with Gerhard Sullwald on the top court and sealed the doubles point with a 6-2 win. In singles action, he extended the lead to 3-0 against the Jaguars with a 6-3, 6-4 win on the No. 4 court.
In the win over Illinois State, Snezhko again teamed up with Sullwald on the No. 1 court and clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Arvid Hjalte and Zane Kohrs. On the No. 4 court in singles play, he helped UND rally from a 3-1 deficit by tying the match 3-3. He took the win over Diego Le Gal Perez with a score of 6-4, 0-6, 6-1.
Riedmiller helped No. 65 Denver earn its tenth victory of the season and improved to 5-0 in league play after contributing to a 7-0 win over Western Illinois. Riedmiller teamed up with Tatum Burger on the No. 3 court of doubles to help clinch the doubles point with a 6-1 victory over Paige Grice and Agatha Carbonell.
On the No. 1 court in singles, Riedmiller won her match 6-0, 6-1 over Lorena Castellanos improving to 6-3 on the year with her fourth-straight win.
