SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- St. Thomas freshmen Brigs Richartz and Oral Roberts lefthander Ledgend Smith received the season’s final TicketSmarter #SummitBSB weekly honors, league officials announced Monday.
Richartz went 9-for-13 with six RBI over three games to lead the Tommies in the program’s first Division I series sweep against Omaha. In game one, the Menomonie, Wis., native, went 4-for-4 with a game-tying three-run home run in the eighth inning of a 6-4 victory. His four hits were a season-high as he registered multiple hits in all three contests against the Mavericks.
The Menomie, Wis., stole a base and went 3-for-4 in game two while driving in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning with a single. In the 9-8 series finale win, Richartz recorded a pair of hits with an RBI double in a seven-run fifth-inning rally.
Smith made his first relief appearance of the season and picked up his league-high seventh win of the season against South Dakota State in game two of the series. The Binger, Okla., native pitched five innings and struck out seven batters while allowing just one hit.
