NDSU, USD earn TicketSmarter #SummitITF weekly accolades

Bison, Coyotes take home the new year’s first weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State and South Dakota were honored as this week’s Summit League TicketSmarter Indoor Track and Field Peak Performers of the Week, League officials released Tuesday. The two schools had student-athletes achieve a handful of season-best marks to start the new year. NDSU’s Jacob Rodin and teammate Kaden Pastian earned the weekly honor for the men while USD’s Erin Kinney and the Bison’s Grace Emineth tabbed the accolades on the women’s side.

At the Bison Team Cup, Rodin broke his own school record and facility record in the 600-meter to take the event title. He won the race in a time of 1:17.88, improving his previous NDSU all-time best of 1:18.03, as well as his facility record of 1:18.18 from last season. Rodin’s winning time ranks 12th in the NCAA this season for the 600m. Rodin also ran a leg in the Bison’s 4x400m relay team that took first in a time of 3:20.63.

Pastian registered personal-best marks in both the weight throw and the shot put at the Bison Team Cup. He was the top collegiate finisher in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 64-11.50 (19.80m). The launch now ranks him ninth in NDSU history and 37th in the NCAA this season. In the shot put he threw a career-best toss of 56-09.25 (17.30m) good for sixth place.

Kinney won her only two events at the South Dakota Kickoff. She advanced to the finals of the 60m after breaking her own DakotaDome record with a prelim time of 7.40. Kinney went on to win the event in a time of 7.43, also under her previous facility record of 7.47 set last season. She capped off the meet by claiming the 200m in a time of 24.41, just one-tenth off her indoor personal best.

Emineth excelled at the Bison Team Cup notching two event titles one in the long jump and one in the triple jump. Her indoor personal-best winning long jump mark of 20-00.25 (6.10m) ranks her third all-time at NDSU and 16th in the NCAA so far this season. In the triple jump, she won the event with a mark of 38-9 (11.81m).
