SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Drake's Jeremy Schifris and Denver's Taylor Melville received the TicketSmarter Summit League Men's and Women's Peak Performers of the Week honors, League officials announced on Tuesday.
Schifris excelled in singles play against a top-100 opponent in Illinois' Hunter Heck, who is the No. 95 ITA-ranked player. The Munich, Germany native picked up a win at the No. 1 spot in comeback fashion. After being down 4-6 in the first set, Schifris won the final two sets 6-2, 7-5 to pick up a point for the Bulldogs.
Melville won both of her matches at the No. 1 spot in singles play to start Denver's dual season. The Duluth, Ga., native started with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Colorado State's Emily Dush and added a 6-0, 7-6(2) triumph over Colorado's Antonia Balzert. Melville added a doubles win (6-4) with partner Claudia Martinez de Velasco at the No. 2 court against the Rams.
