North Dakota State, South Dakota snag season’s final in weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State and South Dakota were represented in the season’s final TicketSmarter Summit League Indoor Track and Field Peak Performer accolades, League officials announced Tuesday. North Dakota State’s Jacob Rodin and teammate Kaden Pastian walked away with the awards for the men. NDSU’s Kendra Kelley and South Dakota’s Lydia Knapp secured the honors for the women. This marks the fourth consecutive honor for Rodin and the fifth this season, which is tied in League history for most weekly honors in a single season.

For the third straight week, Rodin improved his own 800-meter school record after crossing the finish line in 1:47.84 to finish runner-up at the Alex Wilson Invitational. His record time moved him up to 29th in the NCAA this season.

Fellow Bison, Pastian won the weight throw at the UND Tune-Up with a personal-best mark of 65-07.75 (20.01m). His launch made him the League leader in the event by a margin of two feet and moved him up to 59th in the NCAA for the weight throw. He also took third in the shot put with a toss of 55-03.5 (16.85m).

Kelley took down her second NDSU record of the season, setting the Bison all-time best in the 200m at the UND Tune-Up. The sophomore took the event in a time of 23.88 besting the previous record set back in 2013 by Antoinette Goodman (23.98). Her winning time makes her the League leader in the 200m and ranks 78th in the NCAA.

Knapp posted a runner-up finish in the weight throw at the Nebraska Tune-Up. She took silver with a toss of 66-01.5 (20.15m). She also took 11th in the shot put with a launch of 40-01.5 (12.23m).
