SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota’s Gerhard Sullwald and Denver’s Britt Pursell garnered the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week accolades, League officials announced on Tuesday.
Sullwald went 2-0 on the weekend to help the Fighting Hawks sweep Oral Roberts, 7-0. The Warmbud, South Africa native helped UND improve to 2-0 in League play by clinching the doubles point at the No. 1 spot with teammate Nikita Snezhko in a 6-4 final before extending the lead to 3-0 at the No. 1 spot on the singles court with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph.
Pursell extended her singles winning streak to 11 with her two straight-set singles wins over the weekend. The Oceanside, Calif., native started with a 6-2, 6-4 win over the No. 67 ITA ranked player in Harvard’s Angel You and then dropped just one additional game in her win over Boston’s Kaitlin Tan.
Pursell’s win against Harvard earned the Pioneers’ first point of the match in an eventual 4-3 victory on the road. She put Denver within one point of the win over Boston in a neutral-site match that DU would go on to win, 4-3.
