SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha lefthander Caleb Riedel and North Dakota State righthander Tristen Roehrich shared the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Baseball Peak Pitcher of the Week award, while Western Illinois outfielder Nick Mitchell garnered his second Peak Performer of the Week accolade of the season, League officials announced Monday.
Riedel and Roehrich both posted double-digit strikeout totals in starts last weekend to share the pitching honors.
Riedel earned his first win of the season, striking out a career-high 13 in Omaha’s 10-0 win over Stonehill. The only hit the lefthander allowed was a one-out single in the fourth.
Roehrich punched out 12 in the series finale at Texas State, logging a career-high 5.2 innings. His dozen strikeouts were the most by a Bison pitcher since 2007. The righthander yielded just an unearned run in the first as he scattered five hits.
Mitchell won the hitting honors for the second time in three weeks as he posted multiple-hits in Western Illinois’ series win at Belmont. The Leatherneck sophomore went 6-for-15 and is now batting .450 on the season.
Mitchell delivered the game-winning RBI in the opener vs. the Bruins with a two-run triple. The three-bagger was his League-leading fourth of the season and was one of four extra-base hits for him in the series.
