Illinois State’s Pham, ORU’s Morini earn TicketSmarter #SummitTEN weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.Illinois State’s Nam Pham and Oral Roberts’ Luna Morini collected the latest TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week honors, League officials announced on Tuesday.
 
Pham led the way for the Redbirds at the Battle at the Beach in Wilmington, N.C. The Lenexa, Kan., native finished the spring break trip 3-0 at the top of the lineup with wins over players from UNC Wilmington, Youngstown State and DePaul. Pham defeated Reece Falck of UNCW by a 6-4, 6-3 final and then battled back after losing the first set to YSU’s Laurentiu Mandocescu to win in three sets, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2. He capped off his impressive weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over DePaul’s Leon Huck.
 
Morini went 2-0 against St. Thomas with a win at the No. 1 doubles spot with partner Chara Grammatikaki, 6-1. In singles, she defeated Olivia Paradise at the No. 3 spot, 6-1. 6-2. The Brinkmann, Cordoba, Argentina native claimed another win at the No. 1 doubles position against Western Illinois with Grammatikaki, winning 6-1. In singles, Morini came back and won in three sets, 0-6, 6-3, 7-6, at the second spot over Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza.

Men’s Peak Performer of the Week
Nam Pham, Illinois State

  • Collected the first career peak performer accolade of his career
  • Finished 3-0 at the top of the lineup with wins over top players from UNC Wilmington, Youngstown State and DePaul

  • Garnered the first career peak performer award of her career
  • Went 2-0 against St. Thomas with a win at the No. 1 doubles spot (6-1) with partner Chara Grammatikaki and defeated Olivia Paradise at the No. 3 singles spot (6-1, 6-2)
  • Won once again in doubles play, 6-1, against Western Illinois and came back at the No. 2 singles position over WIU’s Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza, 0-6, 6-3, 7-6
