SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Daniel Sancho Arbizu and Britt Pursell swept the TicketSmarter Summit League Men’s and Women’s Peak Performers of the Week accolades, League officials announced on Tuesday.
Sancho Arbizu finished with a 3-1 mark in singles and doubles including the clinching point for DU’s sweep over Boise State in Los Angeles at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 7-5. The Zaragoza, Spain native teamed with Raffaello Papajcik at the No. 3 doubles position and captured a pair of wins, first 6-4 over Loyola Marymount and then 6-3 over Boise State. Sanch Arbizu’s two wins helped the Pioneers clinch the doubles point in both matches.
Pursell won all eight of her combined singles and doubles matches including four against League opponents. The Oceanside, Calif., native was stellar in singles at the No. 3 spot, as she won 6-3, 6-1 against Wyoming, 6-2, 6-2 against Omaha and 6-0, 5-7, 6-2 against Air Force along with 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot against St. Thomas. Denver finished 4-0 on the weekend with three sweeps, one over Omaha and another over St. Thomas, and lost just one point over the week.
